Forest Without Leaves
Part of a long-term investigation into the way we see our surroundings. Kiarostami believed that we have become accustomed to only look at the detail in nature once it has been framed and placed in a museum environment. Through this installation he persuades the viewer to take a closer look at the world around them.
Sleepers
Kiarostami's first video installation, shown at the 2001 Venice Biennale. Running 1 hour 34 minutes, the video depicts a man and woman in bed, asleep in the early hours of the morning. As time passes, the city life begins to stir and the ambient sound of traffic gradually increases. The couple's movements are minimal. The observer is left as a voyeur, yet remains neutral.

Looking at Ta'ziyeh
Kiarostami's take on Ta'ziyeh epics, a traditional and popular Shiite mourning rite. Iranian spectators are this video and staged installation's only actors. Kiarostami uses three giant screens to shift viewers' gazes from the ceremony to the hoards of people and their feelings.
Ten Minutes Older
In this simple yet deeply poetic video installation, Kiarostami incites a reflection on life-towards-death, micro-mutations in stillness, and the consciousness of time.
